Mohit Takalkar

Best Director & Best Innovative Sound Design

Mohit Takalkar has been a film editor and scriptwriter for film projects and documentaries. He had his first exposure to theatre at PDA before setting up his own theatre group Aasakta in Pune. He has been active in various aspects of theatre for the past sixteen years earning a reputation for the group and him, with his works; widely acclaimed by both the audience and the critics. His plays have toured the length and breadth of India and have also been invited to National and International festivals.
Having directed more than two dozen plays, his first play was Girish Karnad’s Yayati in 2000.
He has been awarded Aditya Vikram Birla Kalakiran Puraskar, Amrish Puri Award for contribution to experimental theatre, Sahitya Rangbhoomi Fellowship for the year, Zee Gaurav Puraskar, Mama Varerkar Puraskar,Maharashtra State Award etc. He is a Charles Wallace Scholar under which he acquired a Postgraduate degree in theatre Practice from the University of Exeter, UK with distinction under the guidance of Prof. Phillip Zarrilli.

Rashmi Rode

Best Costume Design

A fashion technology post graduate, Rashmi Rode has been desgining costumes of plays by Aasakta since 2009. She has designed costumes for the plays Bed ke Neeche Rehne Wali, Garbo, Kashmir Kashmir, Necropolis, Anandabhog Mall, Gajab Kahani,Satyashodhak, Mi Galib, F1 105,Bandish, Mukaam Dehru Jila Nagaur and Mein Hoon Yusuf Aur Ye Hai Mera Bhai
She has also designed costumes for awards winning films like The Bright Day, Baromas, Ranga Patanga and biopic of Yashwantrao Chavan.


Darshan Patankar

Best Innovative Sound Design

A lawyer by profession, Darshan Patankar has been designing music for last 6 years. He has worked on plays for Progressive Dramatic Association, Shabdamegh and Mirage all Pune based theatre groups. He has been working with Aasakta since 2010 and has designed music for Uney Purey Shahar Ek and Mein Huun Yusuf Aur Ye Hai Mera Bhai.


Pradeep Vaiddya

Best Light design

Pradeep Vaiddya has been working in theatre for over twenty years as a writer, director, music composer, singer, light designer and theatre trainer.
He has been nominated at META a few times before, in various categories and has received the META for Best Light Design in 2007 & 2011. Other prestigious awards for his all-round work in theatre include MIFTA (2012), Zee Gaurav (2008, 2013, 2014) Tanveer Natyadharmi Puraskar (2012).


Ajeet Singh Palawat

Best Actor in a Lead Role (Male)

Ajeet singh palawat graduated from National School of Drama in 2010 with specialization in acting. He has been in the N.S.D Repertory Company for four years & has worked with Directors of great repute. He is recognised for his work in “Virasat”, “Comrade Kumbhakarna”, “EdwardII”, “Andha-yug”, “Chaya Shakuntalam”, “Mukaam Dehru, Jila Nagaur”,”Mai hun Yusuf aur ye hai mera bhaai “, “Makardhwajan”(malyalam).
He has acted in more than 35 plays and has also directed “Kasumal-Sapno ” , an adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream ” in Rajasthani. The play has won accolades throughout the country. Presently he is working as a freelancer and is running his theatre group, Ujaagar Dramatic Association in Jaipur.

Mrinmayee Godbole

Best Actor in a Lead Role (Female)

Mrinmayee Godbole is a theatre and film actor based out of Mumbai. She has acted in 11 multilingual plays; both experimental and commercial. Along with Aasakta she has worked with contemporary theatre companies from Pune such as Samanvay and Natak Company. Notable amongst her work are the plays F-1/105 and Mein huun Yusuf aur ye hai mera bhai, both directed by Mohit Takalkar.

She also works with Mr.Paresh Rawal in his Gujarati play, ‘Dear Father’ of which they have done more than 500 shows all across the world.
While her heart is deeply rooted in the world of experimental theatre, Mrinmayee also dabbles in acting in feature films and has done 5 feature films to date in Marathi, Hindi and English languages.

Jitendra Joshi

Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male)

A poet, lyricist and acclaimed actor in Marathi theatre and film industry, Jitendra Joshi has performed more than 1600 shows of plays such as Vaaryawarchi Varat, All The Best, Vichha Maajhi Poori Kara, Mukkam Post Bombilwadi, Nakal Saare Ghadle and his coproduction Donn Special. Jitendra also enacted roles in other Aasakta plays such as Tichee 17 Prakarne, Chaashe Kotee Visarbhole. He has written songs for 6 film albums and has won accolades for his performances in more than 15 films.
