Creative Director’s Message

Welcome to META

Three members of a production, which had just finished a successful run of 150 shows, were about to part company. Such went the conversation:
 “When shall we three meet again?
In thunder, lightening, or in rain?
When the hurlyburly’s done,
When the battle’s lost and won”
Or when META has again begun?
(With apologies to the Bard!)

This year we created a record of sorts, by crossing the 300 mark, in terms of the number of entries. Infact, we received 312 entries from across the country, in multiple regional languages. It was indeed a herculean task for the selection committee to select the ten best productions out of so many amazing ones. They did so over a period of six days and hours of debate and discussion.

It gives me a great sense of pride that productions have come in not just from the larger cities, but also from the remote and far-flung parts of the country. I would like to salute the theatre community of India.
And, I salute you.

You, as the audience, play a critical part in keeping the theatre alive.
